Wan Smolbag is an NGO that uses community theatre to inform and educate niVanuatu on a wide range of issues including good governance, health, disaster management, environmental and social concerns. The position involved producing printed collateral to promote and support the work of the theatre.

• Posters, fliers, press ads, invitations, programs and signage for new plays
• Comic-style books dealing with gender and domestic violence and disaster management
• DVD and CD covers

CAPACITY BUILDING & SKILLS EXCHANGE

• I trained a local counterpart to take over my job, a position he still holds.
• I taught Adobe PhotoShop and InDesign, as well as layout design principles and keyboarding to staff at Wan Smolbag and members of the Youth Centre.

I assisted the Probations Team in developing and implementing awareness programmes to inform niVanuatu on aspects of the law. Because there are low literacy levels in Vanuatu, comic-style illustrations and simple text in Bislama were used to communicate.

• Devising content in conjunction with Probations staff and TAs
• Overseeing illustrations and translations
• Creating resources from design through to print-ready files
• Organising printing, getting quotes, doing press passes
• Setting and managing budgets
